## Motivation behind the maps
Putting structure into strategy.
- Motivated by [[Sun-Tzu]]'s five factors for fighting against an opponent:
1. Purpose
2. Landscape
3. Climate
4. Doctrine
5. Leadership
- For the landscape, he realized that military and chess maps have six key elements: the map is **visual** and **context-specific**, it has **components** are **positioned** on the map that has an **anchor**, and the map allow to depict **movement**
- He hasn't found such a map for business strategy
